Welcome to 2017 at the Northfield Public Library!
This year promises to be filled with changes, big and small, from the upcoming retirement of long-time Children’s Librarian Kathy Ness, to the addition of a new bookmobile in the fall of 2017, funded by the Ames Fund of the Minneapolis Foundation, the City of Northfield, Friends of the Library, the United Way, Northfield Rotary and local business Taylor Truck Line. We’ll be adding more Outreach Services for seniors and a variety of more in-house programming at the library for all ages. We even have a BookBike in the works, to be used in partnership with Northfield Promise to promote early literacy and reading around town, and to advertise for the library at community events. Our Northfield Poet Laureate, Rob Hardy, will be creating poetry-minded programs at the library, at the schools and at civic events around town like the inaugural City Council meeting. New signs and lighting along the Division side of the library will soon be in place so that no one can miss the library's presence in our historic downtown.
This will be a great year for the library!
